How Buddy Booking Works: Platform vs. Broker

Technology Company vs. Reseller

Updated yesterday

What kind of company is Buddy Booking?

Buddy Booking is a technology company.

We provide:

  • A B2B reservation & booking system for businesses

  • A consumer-facing marketplace for discovery and distribution

Buddy Booking is not a broker, reseller, or travel agency.

Is Buddy Booking a broker or reseller of my tours?

No.

Buddy Booking does not sell, resell, repackage, or mark up your tours.

We do not:

  • Buy inventory

  • Set retail pricing

  • Bundle experiences

  • Sell under Buddy's name

  • Act as the seller of record

You always sell your own experience.

Who is selling the tour to the customer?

Your business is.

  • You create the listing

  • You set the price

  • You control availability

  • You deliver the experience

Buddy provides the technology that allows customers to book with you.

What does Buddy Booking actually do?

Buddy provides the infrastructure that powers bookings and distribution, including:

  • Reservation & calendar software

  • Booking management tools

  • Customer and activity management

  • Optional marketplace exposure

Think of Buddy as the technology layer, not the seller.

Can I use Buddy just as booking software without the marketplace?

Yes.

Buddy can be used purely as a reservation system.

You can:

  • Embed Buddy directly on your website

  • Use it as your booking calendar

  • Manage availability and customer requests

In this setup:

  • Buddy functions like booking software

  • You do not rely on marketplace traffic at all

What is the Buddy marketplace?

Buddy also offers optional marketplace exposure.

When enabled:

  • Your activities appear in the Buddy app

  • Your activities appear on BookWithBuddy.com

  • Customers can discover and book your experiences

Important:

  • You create and manage your own listings

  • Buddy does not create listings on your behalf

  • Buddy does not arrange experiences for you

Marketplace visibility does not change who sells the tour.

Why does Buddy feel different from traditional booking software?

Because Buddy combines software + distribution.

Most booking tools only provide:

  • A calendar

  • A checkout flow

Buddy provides:

  • The booking system and

  • A marketplace where customers can find you

This dual model often causes confusion β€” but it does not make Buddy a broker.

How is Buddy different from a broker or agent?

Brokers / resellers:

  • Sell experiences under their own brand

  • Set or mark up pricing

  • Pay businesses a fixed amount

  • Act as the seller of record

Buddy Booking:

  • Never resells experiences

  • Never sets pricing

  • Never marks up listings

  • Never acts as seller of record

You remain the merchant and service provider at all times.

Simple way to think about it

  • You own the boat / run the tour

  • You list your activity using Buddy

  • Buddy provides the tools and the audience

Buddy helps customers book with you, not buy from Buddy.
